At the End of 2011
I chose to end the year with the kids at the shelter. I’m curled up on the couch in the living room, listening to them laugh while they watch Land of the Lost on DVD. It’s so very sweet, and feels oddly like family as we close out one year and get ready for another.

Proposed New Calendar Would Make Time Rational →
Time is eternal, but methods of tracking it are not — and so a Johns Hopkins University astronomer wants to replace the Gregorian calendar, with its leap years and floating dates and 15th-century effluvia, with a sleek and standardized system for the world.

Mohandas Gandhi: Can we get serious for a moment? →
mohandasgandhi:
I don’t even care to address this “transabled” and “transethnic” nonsense because it’s too ridiculous and insulting to take seriously.
Perhaps this will be the last thing I say about the Tumblr “social justice” community because while poking fun at it is amusing, it’s incredibly exhausting.
While I can see the merit of wanting to prevent “triggered” episodes of intense anxiety...

And I’m insanely sick of all these generalizations that pro-choice people make.
I’m pro-life. I don’t see killing as something that should be a choice. And that’s what abortion is, killing. I’m not afraid of science, I’m not a stuffy conservative, and I’m educated on the issue. I am not your douchebag “anti-choice” person.
So quit making blanket...

The Advantage to Not Watching Primetime Television
I only ever hear “Breathe Me” when it’s the overly-clichéd soundtrack to my own emotions, instead of hearing it over and over again on something awful like House.
(Wasn’t it great in the finale of Six Feet Under, though? OMG, so sad.)

OMG, a month since release and I’m still so addicted to Skyrim. I don’t think I’ve been this engrossed in a game since Dragon Age: Origins. Perhaps even moreso here, as so much of the story in this game relies on the player.
I get ridiculously into my character’s story. She is Atia the Younger, daughter of a minor house in the Imperial Capital. She fled north to escape a...

Are You There, Tumblr? It's Me, Ceridwen.
Can I just put a picture here and pretend I wrote an “About Me” post? Introductions are hard.
Hi friends. This is me. All twenty-six years old and too smart for my own good. In the middle of a stupid quarter-life crisis trying desperately to figure out all this stuff. Like being single and living alone and what the hell am I gonna do with the next seventy-five years because dammit I...
